I don’t remember who told me this, but I do know that it works.
Whenever you have to make a really, really big decision in your life, go to sleep on it, set an alarm for the middle of the night, wake up when the alarm goes off, write down your decision, and go back to sleep.
Your brain thinks best under immense stress, and sudden lack of sleep is one of those stressors. The choice you make will be the right one.
